⚡️🇺🇸🛰 – Air Force Secretary Troy Meink acknowledged that the U.S. possesses weapons in space, in a first for the U.S.
He said that "the United States now has on-orbit space control weapons capable of defending the joint force against hostile adversary action" during an Air & Space Forces Association.
The capabilities of the weapons were not detailed, but the U.S. Space Force defines “space control” as defensive or offensive “activities required to contest and control the space domain”, with space superiority being the goal.
Experts warned the admission could trigger and arms race of increase weapons proliferation in space.
