The real doom here isn't that this happened as such.
The thing that's making people doompost is the fact that four years into the war the Russian army is still making the exact same dumbass mistakes it was making at the beginning. And these mistakes were barely acceptable back then.
Nothing has been learned, nothing has been changed, and the ones who were loudest about the need to make those changes have been killed or removed.
Which makes the exact same thing inevitable again in the future, and keeps good men dying in the field for even longer for no reason at all.
