SAUDI PIPELINE: DISINFORMATION ALERT
While it's very clear a significant attack on the Saudi ARAMCO East-West Pipeline occurred on 10th September and a pumping station was damaged, while doing my work reporting on the story I noticed what appears to be a wave of exaggerated and unsourced claims around it.
Many online sources appear suspiciously keen to make wild, sweeping statements about what happened, and what the implications are for Saudi Arabia and the world economy. People are predicting the collapse of the Saudi State, a world oil shock and economic depression, skyrocketing petrol and diesel prices, impending global famine and other such disasters. All allegedly about to happen this weekend.
I urge anyone entertaining such ideas to just take a breath and count to ten. None of the above calamities are about to happen - at least not right away.
It is highly unlikely that the East-West pipeline has been destroyed or completely shut off. A careful reading of my reports on what happened which I published earlier today and most recently a few posts above, will bring you down to Earth.
A pumping station on the pipeline was hit and damaged. Well guess what? A similar pumping station on the same pipeline was attacked and put out of action earlier this year, in April. The pipeline's throughput was reduced by 10% for just a few days before it was restored.
CNN and satellite imagery show fire damage at Mesba’ah; they do not show the buried main line cut, and Riyadh has not issued a flow figure. A damaged booster station can cut throughput. It does not, by itself, take 7 million barrels a day off the market or collapse a state (or the world).
There's a great deal happening in the world right now, and it's easy to be overwhelmed and misdirected by the never-ending flow of information, and it's easy to mistake falsehoods for truth, even for intelligent people.
My advice: If you read a headline and it immediately scares or angers you - rest assured you need to pause, and apply some critical thinking before responding, or accepting what follows as fact.

I am glad many are panicking - the fact is there is a huge supply side shock in the process already these past six months since the US (egged on by the Netanyahu regime) illegally bombarded Iran, the silence from the vassals has been deafening (double standard) in regards to Gaza and illegality of US actions that continue such as Iran or for that matter against Cuba or Venezuela. The panic is a belated dawn on how crucial this east west pipeline has become because of the illegal antics of the hubris drunk action of a dying US empire and its vassals and now this situation is extremely precarious. Sure only this pipelines pump station has been hit and it's not out of action, sure it might just be reduced flow temporarily but the bigger picture is it is a further reduction on what was a work around just to keep a minimum supply going. 6 months on from the reckless US actions and whilst they used oil reserves as a stop gap measures, that reserve was built up over decades since the 70's oil crisis (which are now at critical levels) the slightest disruption now has huge implications. Just the thought of the reality of the situation with months of false trump statements and manipulation of the market it does not surprise me that many will unnecessarily panic like a headless chicken at the slightest - but then they have these past 6 months done the opposite rather than headless chickens before the acted like the Ostrich with it's head in the sand! Sure this pipeline pump station may well be a temporary reduction but the dawn of reality is the actions of US and it's vassals have brought us to a major precipice, a point where supply side shock has been kicked into future that is now here and there is no further escape for reality.....
