🇺🇸🇺🇸🤝🇧🇷🤡 — U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, a Democrat from the state of Vermont, posted a photo alongside Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and said that the then-president is a “defender of democracy.”
"As President of Brazil, Lula da Silva has lifted millions out of poverty, strengthened worker protections and protected Brazilian democracy.
I very much enjoyed meeting with him yesterday to discuss the important issues facing Brazil, the United States and the global community."
