Iraq's Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi ordered the formation of an investigative council and dismissed the commander of military operations in Maysan province, from which Saudi Arabia says the drones that struck its East-West pipeline were launched, according to the Iraqi News Agency. Al-Zaidi separately ordered an urgent investigation into the circumstances of the attacks and the parties responsible, with the Iraqi government saying its policy rests on respecting the sovereignty of states and rejecting any aggression against them. Al Mayadeen's Iraq bureau chief reported that three senior Iraqi security officials traveled to several Gulf states, including Kuwait, amid the fallout from the attack. Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry said drones launched from Iraq struck the Riyadh-Medina pipeline, and that it reserves the right to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, security, and critical facilities. Riyadh said it would hold off on retaliating for now, at the request of Iraq's prime minister.
