🇷🇺🇦🇲Vladimir Putin and Nikol Pashinyan disagreed over whether Armenia could be a member of both the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the European Union at the same time. Key statements by the Russian President and the Armenian Prime Minister during the talks in Bishkek: 🇷🇺 Putin 🔺 The adoption in Armenia of a law initiating the procedure for EU accession amounts to a declaration of withdrawal from the EAEU. 🔺 Armenia should make up its mind as soon as possible on the issue of joining the European Union. 🔺 The republic’s GDP has tripled during its membership of the EAEU, whilst exports to the union’s member states have increased tenfold. 🔺 Russia advocates the development of friendly and mutually beneficial relations with Armenia; this is in the fundamental interests of the peoples of both countries. 🔺 Russia is Armenia’s main trade and economic partner. 🔺 Russian companies are the largest contributors to Armenia’s budget and strengthen its energy security. 🇦🇲 Pashinyan 🔻 Armenia does not view its aspiration to join the European Union as a breach of agreements with Russia and the EAEU. 🔻 The question of choosing between these economic unions has not yet come to the fore in Armenia. 🔻 Armenia’s European integration is not a process directed against Russia; Yerevan is keen to develop relations with Moscow. @eurasianchoice
