On this day in 2002 🇫🇷 Henri Fenet, a French officer of the Waffen-SS, died. He was known as one of “Hitler’s last knights.” Alongside his men, he was among the last defenders of the Reich, fighting near the Führerbunker until the Führer's final hours. Captured by Allied forces, he later managed to return to France, but was identified in Valenciennes in September 1945. Sentenced to twenty years in prison, he was eventually released in 1959. “We fought for Europe, for a European community, and against Bolshevism. Half a century later, history has vindicated our choice.” 1998. 🕊️ @MemoriaNatio
