- ⚡️🇺🇸 The USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75) has entered it’s Refueling & Complex overhaul cycle, initially set for 2024 but pushed back due to the Navy focusing on getting the USS John F. Kennedy finished out, the HST will remain drydocked as it undergoes a total superstructure overhaul, massive upgrades to both it’s nuclear power plants, defensive systems, propulsion & generators, fixing known issues, as well as receiving the necessary modifications to support both F-35B and F-35C operations onboard. The cost of this overhaul & refueling of it’s reactions is about $5 Billion (USD), which is exactly its cost to build it back in 1994, and will extend the ship’s service life into the 2050s/early 2060s. The USS Harry S. Truman is the eighth (8th) of ten (10) Nimitz-class nuclear supercarriers fielded by the US Navy, with each having a service life capable of 60-70 years (but planned for 50yrs per hull), and the current overhaul of the ship will take between 2 to 5 years depending on how extensive the navy plans to modernize/overhaul the ship. @Medmannews

I know of three bases here in the middle of nowhere with their own power generation, this is not sci-fi technology.
