🇵🇰🤔Pakistan's warning to the Houthis: rhetoric or readiness? Following Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia — including a major oil refinery that injured 73 people — Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Asif stated that the Mecca Defense Pact (Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey) would be activated if the conflict spills over into Saudi territory. The pact treats an attack on one as an attack on all. But is Pakistan truly prepared for military confrontation with the Houthis? ⚔️ Arguments for intervention Decades of strategic ties bind Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Asif noted that Pakistan already assisted Riyadh during the early stages of the Yemen conflict in 2014. Some reports even suggest that Islamabad has considered limited airstrikes against Houthi positions under the pact's framework. 👁 Arguments against intervention However, significant obstacles remain. Pakistan's navy lacks power-projection capabilities in the Red Sea, being geared primarily toward coastal defense. Direct conflict with Iran-backed Houthis would endanger Pakistan's delicate relationship with Tehran. Domestically, parliament has historically opposed deeper involvement in Yemen, and a military escalation could fuel internal political instability. 🛡The most likely scenario: defense, not offense Pakistan's response would likely focus on protecting Saudi territory rather than launching offensive operations. Asif himself stressed that the pact is defensive in nature. Expected measures include: 🌏Bolstering air defenses (Pakistan already has HQ-9 systems, JF-17 jets, and drones in the kingdom) 🌏Expanding the existing military contingent (media reports cite 8,000 troops, with potential for further increase) to serve as advisors or border guards 💬 Deterrence first Pakistan's leadership ultimately prioritizes deterrence over direct engagement. Asif explicitly stated that the three allies "should not respond with aggression to aggression," expressing hope that the alliance's combined military weight alone would dissuade the Houthis. 👍 Substack | Chat | @geopolitics_prime

I’ll happily support Muslims of the resistance who fight against Zionism and western imperialism, but never those who ally with it. Your Muslim = Sunni bs is just sectarian division. As for Pakistan they are two faced, the Afghan war is just another example. They played a crucial logistical and intelligence role in helping the US in that illegal war. Good luck changing the military establishment in a matter of months when the ISI has such a stranglehold on domestic politics.

Izrael and Ameryka have no place in West Asia and anyone siding or supporting them is almost certainly our enemy.

Which Muslim alliance would that be? And why in god name should Muslims use tactical bombs on other Muslims?

Do you think there’s popular support in those countries for attacking the Houthis?
  • Принцесса Ха

I mean maybe, but if they do it's almost certainly to benefit Izrael

Unbelievable, Pakistan's economy is down the sh1tter, poverty is rife and it's just getting worse BUT they have money to spend on military arms and ammunition to cradle up to the wealthy. Fk-it those people don't have a moral compass 😡

The Pakistanis are like liberals. They spend their time on the fence playing Janus, empire and Muslim support. Must be so painful in that position. Now how will Iran view and respond to this attack on their close ally?

Think Persia will be none too pleased if their Islamabad brothers go that far - to put it mildly. Pakistan would be wiser to stay perched in this instance, rather than act in the name of its defence pact, only to serve imperialist interests as an unwitting proxy.

Are these politicians in Pakistan not knowing how politics work? I thought the pact could be about giving Pakistan, Turkey and Saudi Arab the false hope of destroying the resistance for Empire. But I didn't think they could be so foolish and betray the ppl who hate Israel West.

Oh, I think they know very well how politics works - Erdogan practically plays politics like he's conducting a symphony, saying just enough to keep the populace in harmony while calculating where national interests best align. To me, what's unclear is whether the Mecca pact is largely symbolic or actually has teeth - and what triggers it into effect. The Houthi - Saudi arena is one they should think twice about putting it to the test: they'd be walking a thin line with Iran, while potentially ending up as an instrument of Empire.

the pact is about stationing pakistani nukes abroad without UN sanctions due to exemplary cases against it with natos nuclear umbrella under america

america and turkey refusing to aid MBS will only result of more KSA concessions to turkey. we are not upset about this at all, to the contrary its in our benefit
