Ad formats: what 1/24 means

Two numbers with a slash are about time, not price. How to read a price list and what to compute before answering the owner.

Advertising in Telegram channels is sold in formats, and a notation like «1/24» is the accepted shorthand. The first number is how many hours the post stays at the top of the channel, meaning the owner publishes nothing above it. The second is after how many hours the post is deleted.

1/24 — an hour on top, a day in the feed. 2/48 — two hours on top, two days in the feed. 3/72 — three hours and three days. 3/168 — three hours on top and a week in the feed. The last format is written in several ways: «1/∞», «no deletion», «forever» — an hour on top, and the post stays.

Which hours matter

The first number decides more than it seems. A post is read while it is in view: in a channel with 50 posts a month, a day later one or two new posts stand above yours, two days later three or four. An hour on top in a channel that publishes three posts a day and an hour on top in one that publishes thirty are different things, and the number of posts in 30 days stands on every page.

The second number is the time the post gets to collect everything it can. The difference between 3/72 and 3/168 is how much more a post collects once a dozen new ones stand above it by the end of the week in a channel with 50 posts a month. The owner has that answer: ask for the views of past placements on day three and day seven.

The price ladder

The longer the post stays on top and in the feed, the more it costs. On September 10, 2026 the catalog had three open price lists; one of them reads: 1/24 — 200 ₽, 2/48 — 300 ₽, 3/72 — 500 ₽, 3/168 — 1,000 ₽, no deletion — 10,000 ₽. Prices are the owner's word and we do not check them; the ladder is here as a sample of how the price rises with each step of time.

Note the last step: «no deletion» in this list costs ten times the weekly format. A permanent post is a link that lives in the channel for years and reaches search, not just the feed; that is what the price is for.

Turning a price into views

The channel page shows the average reach of a post. Divide the price by it: how many rubles a thousand views cost. «Осторожно, новости» had an average reach of 195,382 views on September 10, 2026; every thousand rubles of price in such a channel is 5 ₽ per thousand views. In a channel with a reach of 2,000 views the same thousand rubles is 500 ₽ per thousand.

Count by reach, not by subscribers. The example has 1,612,296 subscribers and 195,382 views per post — 12%. Channels with a bought audience run at 1–2%, and a price «per subscriber» looks like a bargain there exactly until the first post.

Pinned posts and «custom»

Besides the ladder of hours, two more notations come up. «Pinned for 24 hours» — the post is pinned in the channel header for a day; it need not be the top of the feed, but it is visible on every entry into the channel. And «custom» — anything the owner describes in words: a series of posts, a mention in a roundup, a post with a poll. Such a format has no two numbers, and comparing it with 1/24 by price per thousand views only works if you know the reach of that specific format — ask for it separately.

What to ask the owner

Three questions that save more than haggling over the price. First: the reach of an ad post, not of a regular one — ads are read less, and an honest owner will name the number. Second: how many ad posts go out per week — in a channel with five ads a day, your hour on top is shared with all of them. Third: what happens if the post is deleted before its time — an agreement on refunds is better made before the payment.

Check the answers against the page: 52 posts in 30 days, reactions at 0.0% of views, forwards at 0.4% — those are the example's numbers, and they say more about the channel than the price list does.

What formats do not tell you

A format says nothing about the content of the post. A native text by the channel's author, a repost of your post, a picture with a caption — all of these are sold in the same «1/24», and the same owner may price them twice apart. How to sell a placement without intermediaries if the channel is yours is the guide next to this one.
