Al Mayadeen English
Addressing AIPAC's decision to drop candidate endorsements, direct PAC contributions, and earmarked donations, Professor Mohammad Marandi argued that its decision reflects growing opposition to "Israel" in the United States.
Speaking on Al Mayadeen’s The Grand Standoff: Iran and the World, he said the lobbying group’s backing can now carry a political cost, with negative public perceptions potentially outweighing the financial benefits.
Marandi explained, however, that "they're trying to hide the source of money and pass it on to their allies in a different way," so candidates would not be seen as aligned with AIPAC.
While he said powerful political and financial interests continue to support "Israel", he argued that public attitudes are changing.
"This is really the beginning of the end of the massive support that the Israeli regime would receive from the United States," Marandi said.
